Move over SSX, the new king of snowboarding is here! January 18, 2004 MisterDerp (Northampton, England) 9 out of 14 found this review helpful
Believe it or not I had never played Amped, even though it was one of the 1st games to be realeased on XBox. Here is my summary:=GOOD POINTS:- ============= + Excellent graphics and animations. + Very good wide choice of music, from rap to indie and you can also use your own that youve stored on the Hard Disk. + Plenty of different courses. + Good difficulty curve. + Quite easy controls ensure a nice gameplaying experience. + Plenty of different clothes, boards and accessories to go on your boarder. + Addictive. + XBox Live! Thats always good! WEAK POINTS:- ============= - Can be frustrating to do some tricks. - AI of oppenents in races is frustatingly hard. - No idea of where you are on a course, as no map and no idea where finish is until you see 'end of run' appear. - Sound effects can be annoying. - Can prove to be a little annoying at times. OVERALL: A superb game with a few minor flaws asside mean this will take its place amongst the best xbox games of 2003/4. Better and more 'realistic' than the SSX games.
Realistic Gameplay augments difficulty. January 9, 2004 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
The game's graphics are not enchanced tremendous compared to the first title but you can notice additions such as shadows and better lighting.Graphics : 7.8 / 10 The sound effects just serve the game's purpose fair enough without being given any more attention. The music is well done with a ritch collection of 300+ songs Indy, Hip-Hop, Rock and other collections where you can turn them on and off independetly and the ability to use your own soundtracks. Sound Effects : 6.0 / 10 Music : 9.0 / 10 The Gameplay is addictive. It's a game where you can easily start playing and progressing levels but HARD to master. AMPED 2 has a lot more tricks than it's predecessor and the controls are well thought. The Multiplayer options are rich, featuring Split Screen, XBOX Connect (Connecting more than 2 XBOXes together through a Hub and common ethernet cables), And of course XBOX Live for all those lucky people who have the luxury of it. Xbox Live services are not yet available to Greece and Poland. Gameplay : 8.0 / 10 Endurance in Time : 8.5

This game will keep me challenged for months, maybe years. I find the concept of linking tricks together and forming combos difficult to get my head round but with Amped 2 I seem to find it more logical and better explained than Tony Hawks. The Career mode is fantastic, you create your character from a number of different boarders and tinker with his/her look, style, clothes and accessories. This seems to be the standard these days with the new generation of personal online games. I played the career mode for a few hours and my ranking went from 250 to 203, performing photo shoots, sponsor shoots, competitions and high score challenges. The controls are easy to pick up and there is a style feature which will reward precision. On Tony Hawks (and this ) you can pull the analogue stick to the left or right full lock to perform a trick, but if you only pull it half way and squeeze the triggers you get a bonus for style, a controlled trick. this will add years and tears in the quest for perfection, and there will never be a perfect run. The graphics and sound are top notch and you can use your own soundtracks. I spoke to someone who owned SSX3 and he confirmed that Amped 2 stands head and shoulders above it. Where the game really stands out is the mode that I left to last to try. Xbox Live. Your every trick, combo, high score and high sponsor score is tracked and rated against everyone else. This is for every run on every mountain too. I spent hours just mucking about, improving all the time and talking to new friends, giving and taking tips. And XSN is not even running yet, My pack will rule.

I went to BOARD X an exhibition of snowboarding, bmx, skate and it was sponsered by x-box. They had like twenty all set up on plasma screens and you could play on games not yet released like Amped 2 and THUG. I entered the amped two comp and came second. I won the first round and the second and on the third i came second. Winning me and X-Box, Amped Two (before release), controller, and xnox clothing. So i have played and it is great. You can play xbox live and make your own soundtrack. The graphics are amazing 3d and it has a career mode which is fun but also a tiny bit challenging and snow skate a new cool no binding session. I f you have thirty quid buy it!!!!!!!!
