3 out of 5 stars Drive or fly through your city.   July 30, 2010
    Frederik H. Coppes
This game is the full version of SimCity4 plus the "rush hour" addition. The addition contains a number of extra's for the game itself. Also, you can drive a car through your city or even fly a helicopter, which is good fun.

4 out of 5 stars Would be excellent if it didn't repeatedly crash. Read update!   July 10, 2010
Mr. Antony S. Bellingham (Wolverhampton, UK. (well near there))
I've been playing this game on and off for 8 years now and it is an exceptionally good sim...when it doesn't crash. Older machines have more luck with running this game I'm talking back in 2002 when I had an AMD 1ghz, 500mb ram and a Geforce 128mb graphic card. The internet is loaded with posts from people complaining about crashes to desktop mainly blaming Nvidea cards. Trust me I have had many, many graphic cards from Nvidea and ATI and it doesn't matter which you use the game will still crash. Currently using a Geforce GTS 250 on 1 machine and an ATI Radeon 5850 on another and still get crashes to desktop. Patches don't work - I've tried them all over the last 8 years. Crashes can happen anytime from after 2 minutes of game play to 2 hours with no error screen appearing. The longer you play the game the more likely a crash will occur which is really annoying when you have built up a large city only to have it crash after 2 minutes of loading. Whatever spec. your machine is, its not a hardware fault its a program fault why else can I run Mass Effect 2 on highest possible settings without dropping a single frame.
When it does work it will consume your life. Good graphics even though they are dated. Sound is simple elevator music. Game play is endless and if you use the cheats it really adds much more fun and options.
I really should give this game 1 star because the crashes have existed for a long, long time and have never been addressed but when it does work it works really well so I'll give it 2 stars because despite its problems I still keep giving it 1 more try and yes it still crashes.

UPDATE! I've got this, eventually, 95% crash free. There is a patch which I had never come across before version 1.6xxx. Make sure you download the correct region patch the Europe patch for UK. I installed it and have played 4 hour sessions with only no more than 2 crashes. I have it installed on my Windows 7 64bit system using a ATI Radeon 5850 and an AMD Phenom II x 4 cpu with 8gbs of DDR3 memory...needless to say it runs very smooth.

2 out of 5 stars Horribly addictive in the worst possible way   January 4, 2010

I played this on my laptop for many, many hours, its a game which literally eats time itself!

Perhaps im doing something wrong but when I get my city to a certain size, fires keep breaking out.
I send in the fire engines, they put it out, but fire keeps coming back, to the point where I cant save the game and come back later, by the 3rd time this happened I gave up.

Also I get the city to a certain size with minimal services Police, clinic etc and i'm still barely making money, then my advisors want me to build a school, so I do this and im 5k over budget...

An addictive game in a negative way, you spend all this time struggling to build up a city and then fires break out which, if you have the patience, probably last 30 minutes.

In this game your effectively a glorified council official cum planning officer

It get so frustrating your find your self reaching for the cheat book...
