3 out of 5 stars Little fun- more like a job   July 29, 2007

The basic flaw in this game is the real-life element of treaties tying groups of countries together. By the time you figure it all out, your country is bankrupt and you get to start again. Very slow to play through a scenario and mostly you feel that you haven't actually played anything. That's the lack of fun element which is only truly achieved when you start to battle it out and avoid your own annihilation. I think that the MORE you play the better the game gets, but it just doesn't have that hook to hold you until that happens. Very slow and boring most of the time but I still hold out hope of unlocking the game's secrets and enjoying it in future.

This game is one of the worst I have ever played. For the price and the date it was made it is very bad. It is better in every way to Super Power 2 and cheaper. Keep well away from this poor game and get Global Power.

3 out of 5 stars Better than before, but still wide of the mark   August 1, 2005

SuperPower2 is a marked improvement on its predecessor, Global Power. Although the concept of the game is one that will have been dreamed about by Strategists for many a year; the game has a built in flaw. We want a game where we can play as powers in positions similar to that of today and see if we can do any better. However, to do this, we need absolute control of..........well everything to be honest. This means thousands of complex controls that will have even the most seasoned player a little baffled. Controlling every aspect of a country is difficult enough in real life; doing it while having to cope with the rather strict treaties, and outrageous reactions to the invasion of a few minor territories (France) by a country such as Germany leaves you with a game that is excellent in theory but again, poorly executed.

4 out of 5 stars Feel the power!   April 11, 2005

Superpower 2 is a huge improvement on the original Global Power (british version) of the game. The game is totally different from the original - this time you really do feel the power of running a nation, it all seems pretty overwhelming, being in charge of so many aspects - you'll probably find yourself unable to sucesfully manage politics, economy, and military at the same time. Unlike the original game, this time you dont get bored and resort to military conquest after a few hours, keeping the level of inflation down, finding the funding for resources, and inflicting your own laws on the nation keeps you enthralled.
In just a few years (game time) I managed to turn Britain into a popular monarchy, despite a 100% income tax, drop out of the EU, ally with the USA, be attacked by China who were in turn conquered by the USA, and become the world's leader in many industries. Now how many games let you do that? One, and only one, Superpower2, you know you want it!
