Amazon.co.uk Review Looking for one of the best multi-player party games on the PlayStation 2? You've just found it, and it's called SingStar. It's a game that tests you on your singing ability--or lack of--and serves up some rollicking entertainment while it does so. Using two microphones (not included), the idea is that, in true karaoke style, songs with predominantly official backing videos appear on your screen and you have to sing the right words at the right time. Also, you'll find on-screen indicators as to what pitch you need to be singing at, and it's here that the game assesses you. Hit the right notes for the right amount of time, and you'll get high scores, which in career mode can then unlock virtual clubs to sing at and more songs, too. The single-player mode is fairly simple and straightforward, but in multi-player mode SingStar strikes gold. The game comes laden with numerous little games, which can involve you passing the mic around, or joining up for a good old-fashioned duet. Then there's the outstanding battle mode, where two of you warble through the same song concurrently, and the game picks a winner at the end. Replete with the option to replay your performance and even use an EyeToy to be the star of the music video, SingStar is fantastic entertainment. A couple of minor gripes: the aforementioned single-player mode is short-term fun at best, and could be improved; the 30 included songs--from bands as diverse as Atomic Kitten and Motörhead--are mostly well chosen and varied, but you'll work your way through them a little too quickly. (Add-on packs may well redress this.) Ultimately, SingStar is innovative, very easy to get to grips with and when on top form, flat-out brilliant. For those looking for a multi-player game in particular, it comes very highly recommended. --Simon Brew Need Microphones? Check out the SingStar and SingStar Party bundles.

Great fun March 4, 2010 S. Collins (South Wales, U.K.) A varied selection of songs to suit most ages - although my 50 year old husband would have liked a few more "classic" pop songs.
Playback is a great feature that allows you to listen to your own attempts at singing - although it is depressing when you realise how bad you really are!
The only drawback is that I can't seem to make the artist's singing louder apart from raising the volume on the tv.
I would reccommend this game for most ages, from about twenty onwards.
Great for the end of an evening June 2, 2009 Racheylou This is really good fun. You don't need to be a brilliant singer to clock up the points. One of our friend's sounds 'scary' and sings an octave lower than he should, but he is very hard to beat! Initially I was slightly disappointed that, unlike other karaoke, the vocals have not been removed from the track, so you sing alongside the vocalist. I quickly got used to this and now feel like Ricky (Martin) is standing right next to me on the stage at Wembley.
great SingStar game!! December 29, 2008 SCD fan 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is definitely worth buying, it's got so many great songs on it, and it will provide hours of entertainment for you and your guests!!
Great fun. March 24, 2008 Stephen North (Kent, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this as a gift for my sisters 16th birthday. It did not dissapoint, she was right on the ps2 giving it a go. We already had the 80s, RnB and another one but had major trouble finding this in any shop. So thats a bonus right there. It came 3 days after i ordered it. Its the only game with a story mode too it as the others are more fun based but this gives you an objective. Right this very min my sister is singing her heart out on it and im glad it did not dissapoint.
Great to play with friends and family October 4, 2007 S. Dogliani (London, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the first ever singstar and although other versions have more features on (such as medleys...); this has possibly the best selection of songs. Ultimately when choosing which Singstar to buy, it's the songs that matter and this has a good selection of new and old pop songs. It guarantees fun for you and your friends and family and although it's not really worth playing alone much, it is worth the money it is sold for.
