It's Gackt! August 13, 2007 raven_guest Yeah I'm biased, I'm a fangirl so I'm obviously going to love anything Gackt had anything to do with. Not a great game, you'd be better off buying FF Dirge of Cerberus for some Gackt action in the secret ending.
Dull and repetative February 1, 2007 M. Robson (Hertfordshire, UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
What can i say about this game? I KNOW its about a Japanese pop sensation but if i was him and they made this game? I would take them to court for trying to make me look stupid! This game is a boring hack and slash..only a select amount of combos, a few magic spells and a not too interesting storyline... On a plus the movement system was nice.....thats about it... Some people may like it but i much prefer games like DMC and Tenchu... Rent it, don't buy it
Well, it seems you dont realise.. October 16, 2005 Mr. C. Michael Douse (st albans, hertfordshire United Kingdom) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game is obviously not going to be of the finest quality of gaming, seeing as though the main character, is of course.. the JAPANESE pop sensation, known as Gackt ("gack-u-toe"). HE is one of the most valued members of the JAPANESE pop society thus spawned this entertaining yet "fanboi" game from JAPAN. If you for instance, think the character on the front of the case is a woman, and the game is Chinese, then you may not like it. But if you apreciate the fact that Gackt is a legendary super star and you love Japan like so many hard core gamers do, your going to enjoy playing in HIS shoes. Just like star wars games, if your not a fan... then you may not be inlove with the game.
Devil May Cry Wannabe October 2, 2005 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this game because I liked the character on the front, and wanted a change from the usual male lead and from other reviews this sounded like a good sword-fighting game. I was entirely wrong. For a start, the lead character was male- something which I had to tell myself over and over again to believe. The storyline was almost non-existent and the levels are predictable. Along with the poor voice acting and wooden characters this game is boring to play. A lot of this game seems similar to the king of action 'Devil May Cry' the controls, the way the demons appear and the way you collect HP. There're even points at the end of each level which you can use with points collected in the level to get upgrades. One good thing about the game is its graphics. They're smooth and up-to-date, and when performing fluent combos pretty colours merge from the weapons. Whether you will like the game depends on what you like in a game. If you like action with not much storyline or thinking involved, you'll like this game. Otherwise, I'd stick to real games like Devil May Cry, and Onimusha.
Bujingai - Review July 7, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
What can I say? Overall, this game is relatively average. The storyline is pretty linear, with no particular 'extras' to keep you occupied once you complete the game. Completing the game itself takes no more than a few hours, since there are only 6 levels, each one only slightly more difficult than the last, and the final boss is not too tricky to defeat. Graphically, however, is where Bujingai really shines, it's visuals are some of the best on Playstation 2 yet, they really are awesome. The fighting in particular is one of the best aspects of this game. Though most of the enemies require nothing more than a few fancy-kung-fu sword slashes to defeat, you will occasionally encounter a more experienced baddie, who will approach and essentially 'dual' with you. When you move in to attack, the enemy will put up its sword, and will fight you with the same level of swordcraft as you do! At this point, the camera switches to a different angle, and the two characters begin 'dueling', magical colours stream across the screen and the swords start flying. This is easily my favourite aspect of this game, and although these enemies do not often appear in-game, it's definately worth the wait! Apart from the graphics, and the combat, this game really brings nothing new to the table, the storyline is pretty dull, with a typical 'guy meets girl, girl gets kidnapped by evil bad-guy, good-guy goes to rescue girl' plot, and the game itself is just too short, although there is plenty of replay value and things to unlock, though nothing special. I'd say buy this game if you're into kung-fu and samurai games and movies, or if storyline and plot arent something that bothers you too much.Graphics: 4.5 out of 5 Sound: 4 out of 5 Gameplay: 3 out of 5 Storyline: 2 out of 5 Overall rating: 3 out of 5
