Just as the Harry Potter movies seem to be getting better with each sequel, so to the games have been improving with every new release. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire shows every sign of being the best yet with a greater emphasis on playing all the characters and not just Harry. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are all playable (and they look like the actors from the film too) and each has their own special abilities, strengths and weakness. These can be augmented by collecting and using Collector's and Creature Cards as well, almost like a proper role-playing game. Perhaps the games greatest draw though, other than much improved graphics, is the co-operative mode which allows you to play all the way through the game with up to two friends joining in. There'll be no arguments over who gets to be Harry either as everyone has to work together with the most powerful spells only being possible by everyone combining their powers. The spell casting itself works in a different way than before with the analogue controllers being used to move your wand around on screen--you can even feel it shake as the rumble pack of your controller kicks in. Harry haters still won't enjoy this on principle, and to be honest it's neither the most original or difficult game ever made, but for fans of the films and books it looks absolutely wizard. -- Harrison Dent This preview is based on an incomplete version of the game; features or problems mentioned above may not appear in the finished game.

It took me nearly three years to complete this game, not because it's particularly challenging, but because it simply wasn't enjoyable.
The game has a good basic concept. It was the first, and currently only, of the Potter games with a multi-player option and rather then having to follow a set order of play, you are offered a lot more freedom as to where you go and what you do than in the previous games. Unfortunately the execution of the game-play lets it down.
If you play the game on your own, expect to spend a lot of time shouting at the A.I. of the other two characters. They are programmed to stand a certain distance away from you, and that's exactly what they will do. Even if it means walking into fire. They also have a tendency to stand around aimlessly while you try to single-handedly solve a puzzle and fight off the creatures.
The multi-player aspect of the game also has a negative impact on the camera work. More than once, I found myself trying to avoid taking on damage while unable to see because a tree was in the way of the camera. It's also programmed to ensure all three characters are in shot whenever possible, which sometimes leads to a long shot when you really don't want one.
If you're going to play this game purely in the multi-player mode, you should avoid most of the problems I've mentioned. So, if you live with someone who wants to play it as much as you do, buy it. If, however, you live with someone who's no fan of Harry Potter, only buy this if they're happy to listen to you scream in rage at the rushed programming destroying what should have been a fantastic game.

I must admit, having played a previous Harry Potter game, and thoroughly enjoyed the free-roaming abilities I was slightly let down with the latest edition.
The camera angles are odd and make it difficult to see whats going on, and endlessly having Ron and Hermione trailing after you, complaing about your lack of skill and exclaiming over every flavour beans, can be very tiresome, and also annoying when they block your way or get in the way of a spell.
However, the biggest letdown has GOT to be that you can no longer explore the castle, unlock mini-quests, interact with characters, earn house points, sneak from prefects, attend classes or do any of the things that made the Harry Potter games what they were. Instead, the game is controlled by a restricted menu, which makes the player jump between stages of the storyline.
If you are considering buying this game on the basis of having played previous Harry Potter games, DON'T. It really isn't worth the trouble. However, if you have never played the games before, the flashy graphics and lack of expectations could make the game enjoyable.
You've let us down EA. I hold higher hopes for the next addition to my collection.

I went out and got this game yesturday as I am still waiting to get a Wii before I get te order of the phoenix but I wanted something to fill in the time for me. I have to say that the game isn't as bad as everyone is making out. Yes, it is level based and the free roam was a nice idea in the other games, however, the game plays similar to the Lord of the Rings movie games (which i really enjoyed) and the graphis on the characters are top. I am looking forward tp playing the game more but believe me, there are much worse games out there that get higher scores than this one has!

I was so excited when this game came out since the frst 3 were fantastic but i was horribly disapointed. This is the worst game i have ever played. Do not buy. It is awful!

OK, I bought this game practically the day it came out. The result? I returned it back to the store the next day. Why? It's RUBBISH! Basically all I found this game to be was a load of puzzles with the title 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.' For all us gamers that were looking for the same action that was in the games 1-3, this was not the case. This game loses the pot completely. However I will admit that the graphics are quite good. The graphics are the only feature that actually makes this game worth playing. The most annoying thing about this game was that you had to complete one level to advance to the next! The other levels are locked for God's sake! Sorry for being OTT but this game really bust my veins with anger.
