Amazon.co.uk Review
In a nutshell: After a successful tour of duty on the current gen consoles Brothers in Arms returns in the ultimate WWII squad based shooter, set during the closing months of the war as you take part in the crucial Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands. The lowdown: Although there were many astonishing looking games at the recent E3 event this was for most people the most graphically amazing next gen game seen so far. The levels not only look near photorealistic but the game world is huge and almost completely interactive. The gameplay works in the same basic way as before, with an easy to use onscreen cursor enabling you to direct your men with a single button press. New movement types now exist though, allowing you to specify stealth or patrol postures depending on what you’re doing and how fast you need to move. The only problem is the enemy have the same abilities and their artificial intelligence is advanced enough to make proper use of them. Most exciting moment: Not only are the enemy intelligent but they’re also well trained, reacting just as a real German soldier would. They’ll hide in doorways, ambush at road junctions and even, in one memorable encounter, hide behind a washing line – where your only warning is from a Dutch civilian at a window above. Since you ask: Everything in the game is as realistic as possible with streets and house copied exactly from photos taken at the time, while all weapons and vehicles are modelled to work exactly as they did in real life. The bottom line: The most realistic WWII game ever – in terms of history, tactics and graphics. HARRISON DENT

Historicaly accurate, but it was a british op !! December 14, 2009 M. Lawrence (The Valleys Boyo) I bought this game for peanuts and thought it was a blast. Yes it doesnt match the standard of some games like COD etc, just accept it for what it is and your away.I did feel quite immersed in the moment and felt like i really was in the battle, gameplay was brill. One thing tho, i didnt get the feeling of how important it was to clear and maintain the corridor for xxx corp to reach the 1st Airborne division at Arnhem ( Yes there were British soldiers at Operation Market Garden ). If the publishers combined elements of BIA HH on ps2 and todays graphics with the current game on ps3 it would have been AWESOME.......nuff said.
First Person AND Tactical October 24, 2009 Rondo Khesmin (West Yorks, UK) The graphics are actually really good: clear, detailed, with brilliant animations. What's more the slow motion kill sequences are a fantastic little tweak.
If you want to set up flanking maneuvers, place machine guns to cover you and use squad-based tactics, then this is your game.
This is so much more than just a shooter. It's thinking-man's crumpet in game form.
Brilliant and underrated. I just can't stop playing this one.
Let's forget the cutscenes October 23, 2009 S. Unmack Larsen (Denmark) If I take a look at the rest of the game it's not that bad. I had read the reviews and decided to try the game anyway, particularly at the recent price I would feel silly not to. In-game graphics are not bad, actually they are quite good: all the little details, smoke, fire and mayhem. Audio, control and feel is not in any way lacking. I can point my mp at an enemy, the bullets bunch up nicely and he usually drops dead; if I take my time there's no mercy and I'm done for, as should be.
I think what gets to people is the unsuccesful mix of brutality and sloppy sentiment. You like it or you don't. However, I see other reviewers comment on scenarios and the failed control system, things I haven't encountered yet and probably never will. I suppose I belong to those that won't finish this game, not by a long shot.
Except for the cut scenes the graphics alone are worth the price, it is very intense action though rather confusing. I prefer "Call of Duty World at War", "Call of Duty 3" and "Medal of Honor Airborne". BUT perhaps "CoD 3" comes 4th. I would have to play some more Hell's Highway, problem is I can hardly be bothered. Too many games are better.
too much story July 16, 2009 W. J. Over (Manchester, england) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The game was possibly a little above average for a war game but the story was poor, not well thought out, too long and dull and the characters were forgetable and it just lessened the gaming experiance.
brill fun February 20, 2009 matt evans (england) i think the game is brilliant but pretty gory you can blow people to bits and if you get a haedshot you will take a chunck out off the enemys head! overall it is very fun but i would say that because i like going to the dead and looking at the gore!
