    5 out of 5 stars Money,Buy, Race!   August 31, 2008

First of all you must buy a car, not the best obviosly because they cost a lot more, but a half decent one. Then you have to buy a house. In your house you get news from clubs challanging you to race them and different upgrades. You can see your statistics eg how many cars you have, how much money you have. You have a garage where you can store your cars and your living room is just for show.

After you buy the house you can explore the city and there are many things to do. You can go to garages to upgrade your current car. You can go to car rentals to rent a car or you can buy another car from different places like FORD.

When you join a club eg ford you can race the people also involved in that club. When you beat that person you move up a rank into their position and gain money for doing so.You can also rake up cash for drifting, speeding and air time. Eventually you will become Vice President and then President. The races get harder when you move up the ranks. There are many clubs to join.

If you want to you can just drive around the island, speeding, crashing, skidding, drifting or annoying the police to have a police chace which is fun when you can drive anywhere when they can only stay on the roads.

Very entertaining game to play, lots to do, top marks!

5 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT ONLINE   July 11, 2008

When I first got this game I automatically hooked myself online with it. The game experience was incredible, I was driving around with two other people, trying to get fast enough to overtake them. There was also several online gaming lobbies scattered across the map, where you could host a race or participate in them. There are a range of cars, some slow, some fast, nearly every single one of their engines sound different. When you become a Master from gaming points you can pick anywhere on the road to teleport to, this is handy when your chasing after a particular online player or want to get to a specific location. When your playing offline it is much more boring, the police attempt to catch you but really they can't get fast enough, your riding around an empty island full of NPC cars. So if your gonna buy the game make sure you can get online because it really does change the way you play! Overall this is an excellent online game and I have now bought it for the XBOX 360 because it was that good!

    5 out of 5 stars Wow, what a game!!!   May 18, 2008

Now this is serious stuff. This game is absolutely brilliant with so many great cars to drive, from Italian Supercars (sadly no Ferraris though) to Classic Musclecars.

Now don't be put off by people stating the analogue stick is impossible to use; it just takes time to get used to and you'll soon become Stick King. You may get a rather sore left thumb though!

The handling is very realistic, the power, speed and acceleration is all spot on. Every car is different. The only poor point is the lack of guidance of the manual, but go to various websites if you get stuck. In other ways it's fun to find out for yourselves what you need to do to unlock all those great driving experiences. One of the best features is going on-line where you can race anyone in the world by either challanging anyone direct (flash your lights twice) or go to a racing lobby and choose set races. The PSP does sometimes have trouble keeping up with the graphics but the 2000 is much better.

Now a serious point though: this game is so addictive I had only 4 or 5 hours sleep before getting up for work! I have spent around 35 hours play on this game and I still haven't quite finished it ( 2 more to go which seem impossible!) Warn your family before you start play or lock yourself in a room to play, and play and play. Fantastic. Have fun. Go get it.

5 out of 5 stars No Match on PSP   April 15, 2008

Test Drive is the best car game out on PSP by a long way. The graphics are incredably realistic and the car engines perfectly match their partners in the real world. There are over 70 top brands of car to choose from and some of the best in each brand. Join clubs and race to become the president of each club which is harder than it sounds with only 7 people to beat but the AI units are clever and on the hardest levels it takes skill to beat them even if you have better car. One of the great points in the game though, is that there is a clear difference between the cars. I've noticed in some car games recently that speed is the only difference between the top sports car and the bottom of the range family drive. Test Drive have changed all that and handling, braking and speed are all factors that decide the final quality of a car; this is one game where the Saturn sky roadster can't finish anywherwe near the Ferrari! ONe of the best factorsd in the game is the freedom to drive around and explore a whole island. On most other games you can explore but you get stopped by roadbloacks or you simply cant drive down a road. The fact that the game is set on an island means that it is easier to accept that you cant go past the limits, the water is a clever barrier. The motor ways are also fun as it is easy to test the speed of your cars with the easy, straight roads and a quick way to get beween the many towns to explore. There are only two bad points to the game; the police and the completion of the game. The police are honestly pathetic. There are no roadblocks like on xbox and although it is satisfying at first when the police dissappear of the map it gets borig after a while. There is no thrill or adrenalind rush when the police are three miles behind you and losing ground all the time. The completion of the game is also pathetic. You have all the cars, all the houses you have gold in every race and you are president of every club then what? Nothing happens and the only thing to do is try and beat your best time on all the races.
Despite having a boring ending it is a gripping and fun game with great racing and great ideas like the housing and the clubs. The graphics and noises and movement of the cars are unbeatable and the island is a cunning setting. It is a fantastic car game and a classic that is simply the best ever made and will stick with that title for years to come!
