3 out of 5 stars Fun but not really exciting   August 25, 2008

This is adequately enjoyable take on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", however, it is basically the old playstation game but with more character, more colour and of course Buzz! buzzers.

This will keep you entertained for quite a while particularly if there are three or more people playing competetively but the games are all very similar and the questions quite hard. Often when all the players are unwilling to buzz in and get the question wrong, they all end up sitting and waiting for the time to run out which as you can imagine gets very tedious.

The characters are amusing for a while but you will quickly find their stereotypical catchphrases getting on your nerves and will most likely begin playing with the sound off.

Overall, this can be good fun in a group situation but it is nowhere near as creative or exciting as the other Buzz! titles.

I baught this game over the weekend and its really good ive played it with people and by myself and i love it! im now hoping they bring out more games with the buzzer remote controllers as they are comfertable to hold. my one problem is only when you start playing that the colours on the screen are quite a like but it becomes better with time. the insructions are clear and you can begin playing very quickly i highly recomend this especially in the winter months when you or you family are stuck indoors. you can also enter you high scores in the internet for some fun if you win the million (if you dont cheat using the internet!!) great for parties too!

2 out of 5 stars Flawed and limited, but fun for Xmas   December 28, 2006

i bought this for my brother at Xmas. The eyetoy use on this is pointless, no cameo faces on the contestants, just little images shown on a scoreboard. The questions very quickly start to repeat, even if you save games, it doesn't remember to avoid reusing questions from a game played a couple of plays before. The Buzz controllers are not as intuitive as they could be, the buttons should be solid colour at least, the design layout needed a little more thought. Set up takes a long time, needing constant explanation to family members who where confused. People initially got the yellow and orange buttons confused (poor eyesight to blame, but repetitive enough to point to a design flaw). Played for the multiplayer games, another huge flaw was the punitive countdown timer on many games, "multi-millionaire" ending up the default option, since it doesn't have a timer (option hidden in a second menu). The character models are limited cheesy stereotypes that have limited movement and soundbites; they will grate as quickly as the questions repeat.

"Buzz" appears to be a good idea, but has barely been developed from a DVD based quiz played with a remote controller. On a PS2, a little more effort should have been taken. It feels a good idea that was rushed and poorly designed, ending up a money making idea, rather than a real effort to give a genuinely inclusive party game for all the family, young and old can enjoy. That said, my brother loves it. He has learning difficulties and finds it a real challenge, but a challenge he enjoys and has surprised elderly relatives how knowledgeable he really is. And no, he didn't memorise the answers, the questions don't repeat that much and he's not an idiot savant thank you very much... perhaps not a game for elderly relatives at Xmas...

    4 out of 5 stars Bit of a facelift   December 14, 2006

Both Buzz and wwtbam are getting a bit 'been there done that' but it has to be said this teaming up of both of them is a bit of a laugh.
The single player options are fine but as with the other Buzz games this is best when there's a few of you all trying to scupper each other. There are a few multi-player options, from a straightforward version of the original game to some enjoyable opportunities to clobber your opponents and either lumber them with the grotty questions or to nip in and steal a question they were ready to answer.
The set-up is simple and quick and the presentation slick and smart. This is a good game that doesn't go on too long and presents the perfect chance for a few mates or family to have a laugh while wallopping each other, it doesn't outstay it's welcome, there's a good variety of game style offered and it's all pretty harmless. Give it a go you'll enjoy it.
