3 out of 5 stars This game is not as good as it looks!   July 26, 2008

Its starts of great. You get to create a theme park and change it. But then you sell it on and start all over again. I thought the idea of being able to see other theme parks was great but when I tried to connect with my friend I found it didnt work! I dont know why though because we tried connecting on another game and was fine! This game is very repetitive but is good if you dont plan to play on it all the time. It would probably be more fun if you were the right age group wich I think is probably 7 - 10 year olds as it is too complicated for very young children but gets very boring if you are older. I do like it when you sell a park though as the rides and shops change. I also like it when you progress with a park because of better rides but after 2 - 5 parks its very, very boring and I would say don't buy it unless you have played it before and definetly like it. Buy Zoo Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon 2 or Sim City instead if you want a game where you can create something on a large scale but also be fun. Out of the 4 I have talked sbout this is who I think they are best for as they are all good games for the right age group.

Zoo Tycoon - 5 - 14 years (not complicated but fun for everyone)

Zoo Tycoon 2 - 5 - 14 years (not complicated but fun for everyone)

Sim City - 7 - 15 years (complicated but fun for older kids)

Theme Park - 7 - 10 years (simple and repeatitive and no fun if your older than 10)

Ok. Happy gaming. I hope this review has helped you diside on your game.

4 out of 5 stars Great conversion of a PC classic   June 2, 2008

As blasts from the past go, the re-appearance of the classic game Theme Park on the Nintendo DS is a distinctly pleasurable one. Thankfully it is not just an exercise in nostalgia but an enjoyable, well-structured game that adjusts well to the stylus system of the DS.

You begin by building a theme park in the United Kingdom and then, having turned a tidy profit, you move on to try your luck elsewhere. Different countries have different economic climates and maps but ultimately the rides are the same, if occasionally renamed, and the gaming experience is pretty well identical.

However, it remains easy to pick up and has enough depth to enable you to take charge of ordering stocks and trading shares if that level of detail interests you.

There are a couple of additions to the PC formula - the most helpful of which is the ability to choose an advisor to help you pick prices for goods and entry to your park. This is a big help to beginners but it does remove much of the challenge from the game as you no longer have to find the right level by trial and error.

Gone from the PC game is the ability to view your ride as if you are on it. This novelty feature will not be missed by those who never played the original and its removal does not alter the gaming experience significantly.

A decade may have passed but Theme Park remains a hugely enjoyable game. The graphics are unsophisticated but jolly, and most importantly the gameplay remains superb.

It is not flawless; the game forcing you to start from scratch once you have exhausted its options is unsatisfying and it would be nice to have some scenarios. Nonetheless, for a DS-friendly business strategy game it is one of the best options around.

    3 out of 5 stars So-so game   March 8, 2008

I had high expectations for this game as I always loved the theme park building games for PC. However I must say I was slightly disappointed- it was near impossible to make a successful theme park and got very repetitive and quite frustrating.

The graphics weren't bad however and the game was quite easy to understand.

Its a shame, but I didn't really enjoy this game. I hope this review helps.

I bought this game after playing theme park on PS1 thinking it was going to be really good but I don't think it was its quite good for the first few parks but then I got a bit bored and the music is really irritating

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant Game   November 19, 2007

Theme Park is a brilliant and very addictive game. Once you are on it, you are on it for hours. I enjoyed the use of touch screen. The game goes quite fast so you need to be quick! The more money you get, the more rides you can buy, eg roller coaster. The bad things are when it asks you to do things that you can't do or have already got, eg rescuing someone who is stuck when there is no-one. Another bad thing is when things break down, it leaves rocks over the park which get in the way.
But overall it is a brilliant game and I am glad I got it.
