Obviously no research done. November 16, 2008 Jean Patricia Becket (bangor) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I know this line very well from having worked on it and unlike Parts 1 and 2 which are very good, the Leeds loop has been so poorly researched that I wonder if the designers have ever visited the route. (Similar comments can be made about the Midland ML simulator). For example, the well known Wakefield viaduct has been shrunk to a short bridge whilst the line from Wakefield Kirkgate is in completely the wrong position. Parts 1 and 2 have the 'feel' of the real thing. The Leeds Loop has not.
More of a Question than a review... July 25, 2008 Mr. J. Hearnshaw I was wondering whether it is just Windows XP that this product works on or does it work on Vista too? Amazon says XP on the main screen for the game but i don't know if this has been updated. Also, do you have to have East Coast Parts 1 & 2 before getting this, Part 3, Thanks
A very good add-on May 13, 2008 O. M. Aszkenasy (Washington, Tyne & Wear United Kingdom) Well, I think this is another great addition to the East Coast Express series, it would have been fantastic if there was a through run all the way from Leeds to King's Cross or King's Cross to Leeds in a Class 43 or 91, instead of quite a few small commuter runs and broken down trains. Apart from that the add-on is great. It has high quality rolling stock, and good graphics. The Class 158 is really excellent but the 321 could be better. All the rolling stock in ECE 2 is included too (the Class 91, 43, 220, 89.) The area around Leeds station is very complicated, just as it is in real life. Stations are also very detailed, although Leeds station seems a bit smaller than real life. There are 12 activities included, and feature a GNER train from Doncaster to Leeds, a "Doncaster Circular" service, and a lot more. Overall I think this is a good addition to the collection of MSTS add-ons but could do with a few activities through from Leeds to London. The following stations are included: Doncaster, Bentley, Adwick, South Elmsall, Fitzwilliam, Sandal & Agbrigg, Wakefield Westgate, Outwood, Leeds, Cross Gates, Garforth, East Garforth, Micklefield, Church Fenton, Ulleskelf, York, Sherburn-in-Elmet, South Milford, Moorthorpe.
mainline activity January 8, 2008 john grant (gateshead, tyne wear United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I agree with one of the reviewers the only thing laccking is a through run mainline from Kings cross to Leeds and visa versa. If your going to add simulations together you should be able to operate throughout the whole route it would be great to sit down and operate a srvice from Leeds all the way down to Kings Cross and back again. apart from that the add ons O/K.
Few problems January 3, 2008 Mr. Martyn Buckley (SELKIRK, Scottish Borders United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wanted this add on because I know the area well and have travelled the routes. While Doncaster-York is ok there have been a few instances of getting an error message saying unable to open certain texture files and whilst you can usually Alt Y through these (not ideal) it then sometimes just freezes, although PC meets the spec. Have emailed First Class Sims to see if there is a patch or other solution. Hope this can be fixed because otherwise pretty good.
