Better than Titan Quest, Worse than Diablo, uses Starforce. January 19, 2008 Blue Dragon (On Your Head) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Publishers website has a downloadable playable demo. Game Style: Orthographic, top-down RPG like Diablo 2 and Titan Quest. Graphical Quality: Better than D2, Worse than TQ. Animation: Somewhat jerky even on high end systems. It's not the hardware. The. game. is. not. smooth. It. plays. like. this. Controls: Bad controls. Feel sluggish and inaccurate. User Interface: Very sucky and unfinished. No "paper doll" ivnentory, instead a list of items, and you click on (tick) the items you want to wear. Same for shops. No graphical shop display. Polish: It isn't. You know it could be better had they more time or money. Just look at the UI and animation. Fun Factor: Very high. Atmosphere: It's good actually. Feels like a real world. Quite involving. You can get immersed in it. Lots of breasts, too. One problem --- The EU version uses STARFORCE protection. Get the US version, the online version, or Steam version.
Great fun, but buggy December 5, 2007 S. Paine (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I played this game as the Egyptian sorceror character, and had a great time - monsters were falling over when I fireballed them! I liked the character progression (points based when you level, you level in both "adventure" and "religion" basically). HOWEVER! This game is buggy and the final straw was when (at lvl 20 or so, reasonably well equipped, with a LEGENDARY robe) my equipment VANISHED into a black hole somewhere while I was zoning through to another area. I haven't played it since :( Pretty game, but according to the forums (4 weeks later and my registration email still hasn't arrived so I can't post!) it's not the only bug in it. Be warned - back your character directory up regularly and this may sort it out.
Starforce screws it up again. November 10, 2007 Mr. A. M. HOGG (London, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am very much for the fight against piracy. But there are other, better, and less fussy methods. Otherwise, this is a perfectly reasonable action/RPG, a la Diablo II, Titan Quest et al. If your DVD drive is very quick on access speed, ie. spin up/down time is short, then it will help. As is, on my mid-range PC, StarForce makes things *bleep*
Had Potential October 29, 2007 Fraser Miller 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I must say i liked this game, being in the vein of Diablo and providing some interesting innovations in terms of setting and characters as well as dialogue. All well and good except this game is so buggy i have been unable to play it. In what seems to be a growing trend in game releases these days this game was sold (it had to be knowingly) with so many critical errors it was unplayable. Unlike other games however it seems there is/was no patch forthcoming and essentially i lost interest well before one has/was released. So for those of you entertaining the thought of this game i would strongly suggest checking the forums to make sure that the game has had a patch released that will allow you to play it else you will end up like so many others - sorely disappointed and left feeling ripped off.
Balance feels all wrongand feels over complicated and unintuative. Not as fun as should be September 23, 2007 C. B (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Of course every one is going to be comparing this to the old Diable/Diablo 2 and Titan Quest, Its only right they do since those interested in this are certainly going to be familiar and fans of those. This doesn't come close to the bar that those game have set in the genre. I have to be honest the more I play it (good 10+ hours worth) the less I'm impressed and the more I wish I hadn't bought it. It feels buggy and a little shoddy/shacky in some ways. Visually Is OK but whilst I think it might be technically better than Titan Quest(TQ) I think TQ is a much more visually stunning game. Sound isn't great. Most the voice acting Very poor Controls are all over the place so I had to move everything round just to get them In a reasonable place. It all feels unintuitive and this is the first time since I can remember that I've had to read the manual to get to grips with some aspects. Loads time can be horrendous to load up between each map area and they don't link together well. The balance feels all wrong, speed is very slow, the toughness of monsters, everything. Suppose to be a hack n slash game but my getting very strong character still struggles to take on more than a few basic opponents of each map and inevitably even with being very careful, purchasing loads of health potions, taking on only what think can handle AND pausing every few minutes to wait for health to recover I still die constantly, Now I'm just fed up and have gone all 'gung ho' and screw it if I die repeatedly. Its just boring if I don't. I never though I'd think a hack n slash game is repetitious and boring but I do of this. I can't recommend this for anyone. Stick to TQ which is the new Benchmark I'd say in this genre, Specially with the expansion pack. Loki unfortunately I've forced myself to play as much as I can and am giving up on it.
