Another dissapointment March 5, 2008 The reviewer I bought this game on PS2 as I had always liked the Harry Potter games (apart from The Goblet of Fire because it was really bad), I had heard that this one was different and was fresh. It was but not fresh enough, it is very repetitive and not fun to play. If you want a good Harry Potter buy the Prisoner of Azkaban. I also downloaded the PS3 demo and it is also bad.
totally disappoining! October 25, 2007 Joe UK (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
i was a fan of the previous potter games as they were fun to play, then i bought this. i thought the quests would get better but they didnt. i completed in about an hour or so i didnt relise i had come to the end because there is no real ending to it. If i had the chance again i would not buy this game and am curently wanting to sell it. DO NOT BUY IT. you will be completly disappointed.
Grand Theft Potter October 3, 2007 A. Ingason (Romsey) The premise of the game is much like the Grand Theft Autos, you have free reign of the area and pick up missions from teachers and fellow students. The only thing missing are any vehicles, or broomsticks, the whole game is played on foot and in two locations, Siruis' house and Hogwarts itself. It has to be said that the school is lovingly created in all it's glory, the detail is gorgeous and the extras you can unlock are informative for fans. The game itself is not that difficult to complete, but has it moments with some interesting puzzles. More could have been done to make this a bit more interesting. As it stands it's not a bad game, just not a great one, it's sits in the middle to be happily average. Good fun for kids, and some enjoyment for adults. If you're a die hard fan of the films and books add another star.
Harry Potter OOTP September 4, 2007 Masterchi3f (England, York) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
After the dire HP 4 videogame based on 3 yr old's, i wasnt expecting musch from Harry 1st outing on the PS3, i was wrong it might be a bit stubborn a few times and a bit pepetitve but it's worth 4 stars, why? I'll tell you. First of all, why didnt i get this on xbox? well not only was i intrigued to see potters first Next gen videogame in Blu ray but this game suits the PS3's control and style very well. The thing i like about it is that it's a sandbox adventure, a free roaming magic carpet ride, sort of a few bumps and knocks along the way but it gets there in the end. the story differs a little from the book and film but overall a decent movie andaption and a decent game. One problem, i would of wanted online play for wizard duels and stuff but you cant have it all can you......:(
Difficult to follow August 19, 2007 Mr. M. Kiehn (Reading, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The camera in this game is infuriating. It makes it very difficult to follow what is going on and to control the movement of your character. The game is very beautiful, but sadly in this day and age that is not enough. Advice: save your money or buy something else.
