Manufacturer's Description The third game in the Fallout series, Fallout 3 is a singleplayer action role-playing game (RPG) set in a post-apocalyptic Washington DC. Combining the horrific insanity of the Cold War era theory of mutually assured destruction gone terribly wrong, with the kitschy naivety of American 1950s nuclear propaganda, Fallout 3 will satisfy both players familiar with the popular first two games in its series as well as those coming to the franchise for the first time. Wow. March 2, 2010 Ms. K. S. Plumb (Barrow, Cumbria) This by far has to be the best xbox game I have played.
I bought this game and started to regret it as I waited for the parcel to arrive. It didnt really seem like the sort of game I would like. I took that all back as soon as I played this game, though. You have so much freedom, you dont have to follow the main storyline and there is many shorter quests to do in the meantime which are still plenty of fun. I have yet to get bored of this game, and I love that you can play it however you like, and if you prefer not to brave the wastelands alone, you can find followers to help you fight your enemies. I personally love dogmeat, so cute yet resourceful!
You can build your own weapons, customise your home, find different armors and weapons to protect you against the various creatures and raiders.
Another upside to this game is the perks, it gives you something to look forward to each time you 'level up', and they can definitely come in handy! The graphics arent all that bad actually, Ive read reviews about the animations being a bit jerky, but personally I dont mind it at all, its fine to me.
The only bad point of this game is that it sometimes crashes, probably because it has to load so many random encounters and wasteland. Ive only had it happen once or twice, but if you keep regular save games, then this isnt a problem really.
Overall, a very fun and interesting game!
Fallout 3 Xbox 360 review February 16, 2010 I. day Having had this game hyped up by a friend i bit the bullet and apart from a fairly slow and frustrating start while you find weapons and items and level up a bit which to be fair is fairly common in this genre of game, during which time most things you encounter can and will kill you, it soon starts to evolve into a thoroughly involving and enjoyable free roaming romp about.
Not for pure shoot em up fans but hopefully that would be obvious to most but if you enjoyed games like Fable, Oblivion or even GTA then give it a try.
dark, bleak and sooooo much fun February 5, 2010 Jack Hammer (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Being one of the first RPGs I really got into Fallout set the bar so high I had to issue warnings to passing planes, during the time I got this [2008] I was wondering if their was more to gaming than halo and half-life a move that drove me away from Call of Duty but also reaveled RPGs.Anyway Fallout takes place in post apocaliptic Washinton DC after the Red Army [China+Russia]drop A-bombs on America "sigh"[theres a shocker]the game itself follows an empty canvess of a charector leaving the player to give their protaginist ethics, apearence, personality, favourite colour and whether your charector puts on their left or right sock on first, and to the games credit it works well at imersing you into the game as it starts with your um......birth...eeew and then it cuts to you at your tenth birthday party in a place called a vault a place where the government sent a bunch of Americans to live out the nuclear genocide underground also its worth mentioning that this game has a creepy 50s fedish that is much like Bioshock but this time time-locked David Tennant style in a sociaty that constantly looked to the future even when their governments smothered thought of the present and makes a point of how artificial and screwed up their world was even before the bombs fell[there is a moment in the game that illustrates this beatifully while being very scary].The game really begins after your dad escapes to the surface and its up to you to follow into the capital wastland as you emerge dazed into the scorching wastes you are greeted with veiw that was engineered to emote feelings of freedom but caution its awesome. On your travels you encounter horrific mutants, crazy raiders and terrifing canibles. What I am saying is that if you took the day after, taken with reversed roles, mad max and the road and bleeded them you wouldnt get Fallout 3 a game that can be bought at any game store you crazy person back to the asylum!

This is fun? February 5, 2010 A. S. Young First off, the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion was and probably still is my favourite game to date. Prior to this game, I never would have considered myself an 'RPG person'. I always regarded such affairs as ways for people with no gaming skill and too much time on their hands to enter the gaming community. I am happy to say that Oblivion proved me wrong on so many levels. Amazing open world explaration, coupled with intriguing & fast - paced combat mechanics made for one of the most interesting and diverse games ever created. Whilst Oblivion can hardly be described as non-stop action, the furious action sequences made you glad of a little respite and happy to indulge yourself occasionally in what I would describe as 'silly missions', as you knew it was just a matter of time until the action began again.
Needless to say, my true passion in games comes in the form of first person shooters. On this basis, I was as excited as a 7 year old on Christmas eve when I first heard about Fallout 3. "It's Halo meets Oblivion!", I told my excited self...or at the very worst (and by no means would this have been bad), it's Oblvion in a post apocalyptic world...right?
Wrong. Fallout 3 is the reason I had my childish pre-conceptions about Role Playing Games. Not even did it fail to meet my expactation of "Halo meets Oblivion", it also failed to fulfill my "Oblivion in Post Apocalyptic World" vision. My main gripe comes from the combat system, which essentially involves this:- pause the game - select a part of your enemies body - click fire -repeat until enemy falls down - next enemy - repeat. Needless to say, my 2 year old nephew could probably pull this off. Gone are the intense battles battles of oblivion, carefully selecting when to use your magic for great effect. In comes this montonous pause - select - shoot system. If dull RPG's that consist of walking around and chatting up a bunch of mutant dullards is your idea of fun, then Fallout 3 is certainly the game for you. If not, invest in Mass Effect 2: - much more along the right lines of what I expect from an RPG. Intense "Gears of War" combat mechanics with the intriguing open world element...fantastic.
Fallout January 8, 2010 Rj Personally this game still tops on my list of best games which includes assasains creed 2 and forza 3. The game is so deep that the main story line took me around 60 hours without any of the expansion packs which expands the gameplay very well making the already huge map even bigger. A must get!
