    Amazon.co.uk Review
Mario Kart 64 was one of the finest games released for the Nintendo 64 platform so it's no surprise that the brilliant racing game would make it onto Nintendo's powerful new handheld Game Boy Advance. And rest assured the game clearly takes full advantage of the graphic power and speed of the GBA. But this version owes more to the seminal Super Mario Kart on the SNES in that it doesn't use the 3D environments of the N64 version.

Still, Nintendo's expertise at sucking players into the game world is strongly evident, and Mario Kart Advance offers enough challenges to keep players, both young and old, entertained. Placing a familiar Nintendo personality, such as Mario, Luigi and even the mushroom man behind the wheel of a sputtering go-kart powered by a 50, 100, or 150-cc engine, the game lets players race computerised opponents or up to four other players (via a cable) on a variety of well-designed tracks. Multiplayer is the key to Mario Kart, and though you'll need four cartridges for the full multiplayer experience there are some limited options for four-way play from a single cartridge.

Because karts lack the power and speed of games (and let's face it you aren't in it for the Gran Turismo 3 adrenalin-pumped experience), drivers must focus on collecting power-ups and non-lethal weapons, such as the snowball and minimiser, rather than negotiating hairpin turns on two wheels. Grabbing and using on-track items is the heart of the game's fun: a strategically placed banana peel sends the unlucky victim into a spin, nailing an opponent with a turtle shell launches their vehicle skyward, and a rocket provides a quick boost to near-breakneck speeds.--Kristen Bowditch

I bought this game after I had completed Mario Kart for DS hoping it would bring more challenges. The first race I came last and even after 50 races my best was third the controls are rubbish the graphics are rubbish the steering is rubbish. PLEASE DON'T Waste your money on this pathetic game!!!!

4 out of 5 stars A good game for on the move   March 8, 2008

I've always thought their are 2 types of Gameboy game; the travelling type, and the 'home' type. Luckily, Mario Kart Advance is perfectly suited for the gamer on the move with it's fast paced racing, excellent longtivity, and impressive graphics. It makes the most out of the GBA processor with lovely 3-D 32bit graphics, which suited me fine, as I remember the original SNES version of Mario Kart being very cartoony.

A must if you own a GBA, and even more essential if you're a short journey player, like me!

I got this when it was first released, and despite some of the tracks appearing on the DS version of Mario Kart, I still miss this game as it was an excellent game of Mario Kart for the Nintendo GameBoy Advance! Mario Kart offered alot of tracks and weapons to use with the classic charaters to chose from, but this time, you could take the fun of Mario Kart anywhere with you, even to the toilet! Good gameplay with fast paced action and the graphics were good too on a GameBoy Advance game was amazing! But this was another classic Mario Kart game!

Another Mario game. This time a remake of a 64 and NES classic. This is really good game . To start with you have three modes, quick run a quick race on a ny track to warm up, Time Trial to break indignented records, and GP which is going into the cups and competing with the other racers. The racers are Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Bowser, toad, Peach, Donkey, Kong, and Wario.Obviously they all havce different abilities like faster accellaration, to weight to bash cars out of the way. Also you get item boxes with different weapons like bananas, classic blue shells, red shells, green shells lightning and Boo. on the game there are unlockable bonus tracks as well if you collect 100 coins on star cup to get to the bonus ones. There are also different types of speed 50cc,100cc and 150cc. Overall this is just a remake of a classic spruced up with better graphics and portablity. So get this its really cool and good say for long journeys in the car, ferry, or train. This has also been made out on the DS in another Remake that is very good too and better.
