Great game but bad securom August 20, 2010

Awesome game, have had many many hours of fun on it - the only problem i had was securom.
It wouldn't let me get onto the game what-so-ever and I had to contact securom to get a replacement exe file due to conflicts in the program.
This will happen if you have any other games on your PC with securom included.
A poor version of Rome: Total War July 20, 2010

After loving Rome: Total war (Rome) but gradually getting bored of it the next logical choice was the next in the series, Medieval II.
Unfortunately this game turned out to be almost nothing new, and infact a worse game overall than Rome! It is almost an identical game with different playable factions, these however lack the variety of Rome and so there are very few that are worth playing as.
The game play is exactly the same Rome but seems to be a lot easier, the main change is the improved multi-level castles which had the potential to make for much more interesting sieges; however the poor AI cancels this new feature out and so doesn't help much at all.
This game really isn't worth buying due to it being a worse version of the game, if you are thinking of getting this then get Rome: Total War instead.

I ordered the gold edition of Medieval Total war 2 and it came on time, no problem. When I went to install the game, it asked for CD Key, and there was none inside the box as there was no printed manual. There is no manual on the disk at all and so I have an unusable game.
This is pretty common behaviour from the game companies making their games without manuals to cut costs. So do check your game as soon as it arrives and send it back if necessary!

Medieval Total War 2 is a great game and the Kingdom expansions make it even better. But don't forget the extraordinary modifications that are now available for it for free online and make it better still. Most notable is the Retrofit mod (which brings the original game up to the level of the Kingdom expansions). Stainless Steel (current version is 6.2 at time of writing) vastly improves the game play and graphics, adding many new factions and much more accurate historical detail. Last but not least, the Third Age Total War mod adds a hugely enjoyable Lord of the Rings game based on the Medieval Total War 2 engine.

Started of with a few security problems, but this was quickly sorted by securom.
This is a great game vanilla, with stainless steel mod it is superb, very absorbing. Its only weakness is, as with most games in single player mode, the AI. 3 for fun, because after you master tactics (which for anyone with knowledge of medieval warfare is about 2 hours) you will roll from whitewash to whitewash, especially if you play as england with those pesky longbow men.
It is a shame that later and future total war games are steam clients, which is something I refuse to have and therefore SEGA/Creative Assembly have lost my custom for their games, which otherwis they would be assured off. I accept disk check, I will put up with later versions of securom, but will not have steam and laugh in the face off windows live and always on internet connection (settlers 7 fail).
