5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Console   May 27, 2010

Having had an xbox 360 for nearly 4 years, i thought it was time to see what Sony had to offer - and was not disappointed. The hardware itself is great and has a much higher standard of build quality than the 360. It is near silent when running. It plays blurays and up-scales my DVD collection into HD for fantastic picture quality. Lots of features to it. Great console.

4 out of 5 stars Good but has flaws   March 15, 2010

If you have an HD TV but not a Blue-ray player and want a first classs game experience this is the console to buy even though at first glance its quite expensive compared to the alternatives.
Picture and sound quality are excellent and the ability to stream and play most other media files either from a PC/Media server or direct from UBS disk make it a good all round entertainment system. Recent XMB updates have also introduced full screen BBC iplayer which displays in pretty good detail on a 42" TV.
The down side is that the 250GB disk is not really that usable unless you want to copy files to it say from a PC. Somewhat incredibly most games do not install to the hard drive (unlike the xbox on which you can install every game to HD.) However this will likely be fixed in the future. The worst problem the unit has is that it is noisy when used for a while. WHen the fans kick in they audible above what you watch and it is quite intrusive.
The unit has built in wireless and currently its free to play online games via PSN.
The accompanying Uncharted 2 game is possibly the best game yet to be published for any console and certainly the best PS3 exclusive.

4 out of 5 stars Nicely done   December 1, 2009

In short: Great character- and story-driven game. But that's what it is. The gameplay is quickly repetetive. Jumping from huge ledges and climbing signs/mountains/buildings is all the gameplay is a about. And of course the very trivial gunfights - you just have your average weapons (handgun, AK47, etc.) and you shoot to kill while stupid enemies keep coming.

This game needs more interesting gameplay. I find myself just going through the gameplay to get on with the story. It could use more puzzles and adventure.

    3/5

Well, I suppose no words are required for the PS3 slim... AMAZING!
Regarding Uncharted 2, I really enjoy the game. Excelent graphics, great story, and fun to play!! Funtastic virtual reality.

5 out of 5 stars Game that feels like being in a movie   November 24, 2009

The Game is fun ! But it is more than that. The changes of scenery and new goals let you switch between Jump and Run, Ego-Shooter and Adventure/clue solving, all mixed with high quality movie interludes which start at the scene where you are standing at the very moment and bring you to the next scene, where you continue your adventure.
Well done and it is also possible to play in short time spans to reach the next saving point in a level, so you don't have to spend a 2 hour streak to run through a chapter before being sure that your progress might not be lost.
All in all the best Game I played for years, 5Star+ from my side.
