For more than a decade, millions of Pokemon fans around the world have enjoyed training their Pokemon within their videogames. Pokemon: SoulSilver Version and Pokemon: HeartGold Version games for the DS and DSi herald the beginning of a major new development for the Pokemon world, as players continue that training in the real world, simply by going for a walk! Pokemon: SoulSilver Version and Pokmon: HeartGold Version will allow you, the player, to interact with your Pokmon beyond the realm of the main game itself! The brand new Pokewalker accessory is a pedometer that is exclusively packaged with and only for Pokmon: SoulSilver Version and Pokmon: HeartGold Version. It works with the game through an infrared connection and allows you to transfer any one of your Pokmon from one of the two games to the Pokewalker and thus continuing the adventure in the real world!

New to Pokemon? September 1, 2010 Mr. M. J. Bowyer (UK) I've been playing video games since "Pong" first appeared at our local swimming pool in the late 1970s, but I had always avoided the Pokemon series. I thought they were firmly aimed at a younger market and would have nothing much to offer. After reading a few reviews for the latest edition "Soul Silver" I decided to give it a try. How wrong I had been! It really is a very well rounded RPG adventure that has kept me totally involved. I find myself taking time out from the main story to go and level up my favourite Pokemon or taking a tour to collect berries with a zeal I haven't found in a game since I stopped playing an online MMORPG.
Forming a squad of six from the available critters is always a challenge as you trade the qualities of one race for another. I would advise keeping away from the many online guides unless you get totally stuck as experimenting is the best way to learn. The main story line follows a fairly straight path, but the distraction of side quests and mini-games break this up and the game doesn't suffer as a result. I liked the fact that your next step is usually fairly obvious as some RPGs can become frustrating as you wander round trying to find the one person you failed to talk to before you can proceed.
The Pokewalker is a nice addition as it allows you to add Experience Points (XP) a Pokemon you transfer to this simple pedometer. You can also play a couple of mini-games that allow you to catch wild Pokemon and find items that can be used in the main game. As these items, such as healing potions etc, put a drain on the limited cash available to the player, they can be a very handy addition.
So, if you have never dipped into the world of Pokemon, or worry that you're too old to get anything from this game, I would certainly advise giving Hear Gold or Soul Silver a try.
can't put it down August 30, 2010 Gideon B. Pain (uk) Got this game for my sons 10th birthday a couple of days ago and since then he hasnt been able to put it down. Although the written instructions initially seem a bit complicated he quickly picked it up and is intuativly finding his ways thruogh the differnt levels. The game also includes a Poke walker which is a cross between a pedometer and a tamagotchi. You can download your chosen pokemon into it and boost its strength with the more steps you take. I thought that this would be a bit of a gimick but the lad hasnt sat down since.
Pokemon! August 16, 2010 Charlotte Davis Once again you are sent to see a strange man and given a wild animal and sent out into the world to complete a biological encyclopedia with little or no training.
The Pokewalker is useful as an instant way to find like-minded nerds - see someone wearing one on their belt and you know... you know that it is TIME TO BATTLE.
Huge game August 10, 2010 jamisal This is a huge game, amazing it fits onto a card. I bought this for my 2 sons, 6 and 8, and they love it. It is quite an educational game for them really as they need to think as they make their way through Johto, solving puzzles, doing strategic battles, and reading all the text. I'm too old to have been into Pokemon, but guess what, I'm addicted too. I've learnt a lot about Pokemon from helping my sons with the game, you're never too old to become a trainer!
pokemon soulsilver August 4, 2010 perran bought it for my 9 year old grandson after much pestering - glad i did - he loves it.
